We offer a fixed price domestic and semi-industrial sewing machine service for most modern and recently vintage models. This includes a strip down, thoroughly cleaning out dust, lint and thread debris inside the machine, checking mechanisms and parts, and lubricating moving parts.
We then fit a new needle (included) and test run your machine to ensure that it functions as it should and that stitching is even and sound.
Finally we wipe it down and clean the exterior casing.

VINTAGE SEWING MACHINES
1950’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80's and 90’s
Generally, whatever the brand, these machines were built to last. They are robust, super-smooth running, versatile workhorses. Once fully serviced the vast majority of them run like new!
Some machines of this era, notably Singer’s and Bernina’s, were fitted with plastic internal gears which can deteriorate, meaning that they can break or crack. Before going ahead with a service we always inspect susceptible models to confirm they are OK.
Very occasionally we are faced with an issue or breakage that is unrepairable or where parts can’t be sourced. Otherwise, these older machines are well worth maintaining.
OLDER HAND-CRANKED SEWING MACHINES
Built like tanks, and capable of sewing almost anything, hand-cranked machines, and the early electric versions, are lovely, solid machines to use.
Again, fully serviced, they run super-smoothly and are ultra-reliable.

For certain repairs we can only proceed if we can obtain the spare parts needed.
Not Using Your Machine That Much?
- It is recommended that you keep it in it's case or under a cover in your house.
- Every now and then set it up and run it to give all of the moving parts an airing.
- Check the bobbin case area from time-to-time and brush out any lint, dust and debris.
